About Kevin

A smoky kitchen isn’t the first place you would expect to find a child late night. But in the 90’s, his Aunt Marg’s beautiful oak kitchen is where Kevin Ludwig learned where real music comes from, the soul. Acoustic guitars, harmonicas in the wrong key, Beatles song-books, raucous lead vocals and often pitchy harmonies filled the room. The love was thick and the music was loud.

After playing the tuba for 10 years and striking out with the ladies, Kevin finally picked up the guitar at age 14 and instantly began writing songs. He still struck out with the ladies, but his guitar made for a great companion. Those that knew him at a young age described him as a “fountain” that music just seemed to flow through. During high school Ludwig played his musicaround his local town of Binghamton, NY, and in 2014 released his first record, Throwing Water balloons at the Sun, a tribute to his friend who had been involved a tragic accident. The coming years brought about shows playing along side; Gavin Degraw, Tim Reynolds (DMB), Clay Cook (Zac Brown Band), Drake White, Jerrod Niemann and Melvin Seals (Grateful Dead).

2019 brought several musical releases for Ludwig, including his most popular “Moonshine” off of the EP, Red. Later that year Kevin made it to the top 50 of American Idol on ABC network. After the show aired in 2020, Kevin had his first National Tour, “The Cleaner Oceans Tour” scheduled, in conjunction with Surfrider Foundation. The tour was set to start in New Orleans and run the coastline back to NY, performing shows and cleaning beaches, making stops in every state.

COVID-19 cancelled the tour two weeks before its start date and caused Kevin to step away from music. Having felt like his musical career was halted on the runway, he went back to working as Physical Therapist Assistant at a preschool for disabled children. And while Ludwig loves his job, the music never stopped calling to him.

Currently, Kevin is working full-time at the preschool, serving underprivileged and disabled children. He is also working full-time as a musician, playing over 100 shows a year and releasing a single a month over the next 12 months to be featured on his upcoming album sex AND speed (2024). This album will lead to the rescheduling of Kevin’s first national tour “The Cleaner Oceans Tour”, which will take place in the summer of 2024.
